November Blues

November Blues, I would rate a 5/5. Sharon Draper is truly a genius when it comes to writing. She is truly a fantastic, brilliant author. Not only do I love this book, it’s about real teenage problems with a hint of suspense, joy and all around mixture of emotions. I didn’t want to put the book down until I was done reading. A few details about November has to accept the death of her boyfriend, prepare for senior year of high school, get ready for college, and a piece of Josh that is going to stay forever. She is devastated that her boyfriend of three years dies while trying to join the most exclusive club at their school.

Warriors of Distinction had the boys jump from a six-floor abandon building to prove they were really warriors. Josh Prescott was scared thinking something is not going to go right. He jumped while his cousin/best friend Jericho Prescott watched him fall to his death. It was Jericho who was afraid of heights, but he jumped right before Josh. After Josh’s death the dogs of the club was in major trouble. Some of the boys were even arrested due to his death. Everyone in school was shocked and surprise because they didn’t know what was going on, the students for that matter a couple of teachers knew, but didn’t say anything. They thought it was harmless teenage fun (they were so wrong). The Warriors of Distinction was that secretive and exclusive, they held a memorial in Josh’s honor. He was the funny, class clown everyone loved to be around to get a good laugh. Why was getting into that club so important it cost someone their life? It was the most important, popular club at their school, to be invited to join was an absolute honor. It was the thing to be in if you were a football or basketball player, they were in the club.

Josh and Jericho were not the most popular boy at their school joining that club would let them hang out with the top dogs. November and her friend Dana were the most looked at to, popular, hated o girls. The main attraction if you call it. They had to wear the best, be the best because a lot of people looked up to them. Dana also tried out the club, it was an all boys’ club no girl as ever to join, or wanted to. They put her through pure hell! But she hung in there like the rest of the boys. One boy, Eddie put her through the most torture because she did not want him, He doesn’t take no very well, he sometimes went overboard the boys had to stop him. If any was going to join Dana would have been a true warrior. November has to choose between A pr B, with her personal life or her school plans. Josh’s parents Mr. and Mrs. Prescott are one of the three taking his death the hardest. I recommend this book to anyone in high school. It tells a story of tragedy that could happen to anyone in high school, a high school couple. It gives you a view of different parts of life. I think November Blues will not make you put it down until you finish it. The book before November Blues is the battle of Jericho.
